New Member Program

The whirlwind of going through Recruitment, being extended a bid and then joining Kappa for life can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Kappa gives our new sisters a warm welcome by extending friendship and mutual support through our new member program.

The new member period is a time to learn about the Fraternity and educate women on the expectations and requirements of being a Kappa. Each new member is given a Big Sister to guide her through this new stage of her life. New members also attend a retreat to foster and develop the new friendships and connections within the chapter.

The New Member Educator is responsible to introducing the new member class to our chapter; teach them of both Kappa Kappa Gamma history and Iota Chapter history. New members will go through an eight week pledging time in which they are taught the values of Kappa, understand how our chapter -functions, the membership responsibilities and what it means to truly live your life as a Kappa. Each new member will receive a bid sister during this period who will serve both as a friend and a mentor. Kappa Kappa Gamma is nationally strictly against hazing and any negative behavior that could be associated with the new member intake process. The Iota chapter fully agrees to and complies with these values. It truly is a rewarding experience for a new member educator to act as a mentor to the new member class from Bid Day all the way through Initiation.
